Fight. Flight. Freeze.

We tend to have natural reactions to situations when we feel overwhelmed,  threatened, or in danger.  These reactions are known as FIGHT. FLIGHT. FREEZE. This response system at its best, protects and keeps us safe when in danger. At its worst, this response system can keep you in a constant state of alert and alarm. Oftentimes our minds  struggle with distinguishing when a threat is REAL. 

In other words, there are times when we may feel threatened or in danger, but we are actually SAFE.  We are irritable and ready to FIGHT an invisible enemy. We feel like we need to run away from a situation and find the nearest EXIT, but  there is no threat present. Or we find ourselves STUCK and FROZEN and unable to tune in to the situation or make a decision. 

This month we will discuss methods to ground and allow our minds to calm down when we feel  danger. Reflect on the last time you felt overwhelmed, threatened, or in danger. Did you respond in FIGHT? FLIGHT? Or FREEZE?
